K40Y-9 PIO Capacitors

These vintage Russian K40Y-9 capacitors are high quality PIO (Paper in Oil) types made for the Soviet military. They have glass-sealed aluminum foil conductors and oil saturated paper dielectrics in a metal bodies--similar in construction and performance to the more expensive Sprague Vitamin Q capacitors. Great for improving guitar tone or for use in high-end audio applications.

Capacitors are checked on two capacitance testers and then run in a custom fixture to check for leakage at full rated voltage up to 630vdc (1000vdc caps are tested at 630vdc).

Our premium matched pairs are matched within 1% of each other and within 5% of the rated capacitance. They will also be the lowest leakage examples. These pairs are best suited for coupling capacitors and other locations where only the best will do.

Capacitors sold individually test within the stated tolerance of 10%. These are great for tone controls, bypass positions, and other applications where extreme precision is not necessary.
